Battery notice
Disposing of vapes properly and storing them safely
Why a vape must not go in household waste, where it goes instead and how you store it safely until then.
- Return is free, even without buying anything new
- Recycling centre or any point of sale
- Never open the device, never remove the battery
Obligation
Every RandM vape contains a built-in lithium battery and electronic parts. That puts it under the German Battery Act and the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act. Disposal in household waste is not allowed and can be punished as an administrative offence.
The reason is not only the environment. Lithium batteries can catch fire if they are crushed or damaged. That is exactly what happens regularly in waste compactors and sorting plants.
Where it goes
Two routes, both free
Tape over the contacts on the underside first. That prevents a short circuit in transit. Every step in detail is in the guide Disposing of a disposable vape.
Municipal recycling centres take old electrical devices free of charge. Hand the device to the staff instead of throwing it into a container yourself.
Every place that sells e-cigarettes takes used devices back. That has applied since July 2026 and is not tied to buying a new device.
Misconceptions
What you should not do
Safety
What to watch day to day
A lithium battery is harmless as long as it does not overheat or get damaged. Four habits are enough.
Not in the sun
Heat is hard on the battery. A car gets too warm quickly in summer, even in the shade.
Do not charge it unattended
Unplug the cable as soon as the device is full. You should not leave it on the mains overnight. How to charge properly is in the instructions.
Do not use it damaged
If the housing is deformed, swollen or hot, stop using the device and hand it in.
Do not open it
The device is not built to be taken apart. Anyone who exposes the battery risks a short circuit.
