With a vape on the train and at the station: who makes the rules
Mateusz Rudziński Founder of RandM Vape

Whether you may vape on a train or at a station is set by the rail company and the operator of the station. The answer is in the conditions of carriage and in the house rules, or you ask the staff. How to protect the device on the journey is further down. We do not tell you what applies where, because every railway and every station sets that itself.
Who decides what applies on a train and at a station?
Whoever runs the train and whoever runs the station. Those can be two different companies. On long distance trains, regional trains and city trains the rules of the operator apply in each case. The table shows where you find the answer. It does not replace a look at the rules of the operator in question.
| Place | Who decides | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
| On the train | the rail company | conditions of carriage, train staff |
| On the platform and in the station | the operator of the station | house rules, notices on the platform |
| On the bus and the tram | the transport operator | conditions of carriage, driver |
How do you carry the vape on the train?
In your hand luggage or a jacket pocket, protected from pressure. Do not put it loose in a rucksack among keys and crumbs, or lint will collect in the mouthpiece and in the charging port. Do not sit on it. Every range at RandM Vape Shop (randmvape.shop) comes filled and is not built to be opened. More on that is in the article How do you carry a vape?
What do you watch out for in a window seat?
The sun. Behind the glass it gets warm quickly. Heat is hard on the battery and the liquid. Do not put the device on the shelf by the window and not on the table in the sun. It is better kept in your bag. In winter the opposite applies: a device that has got cold outside you warm in your hand for ten minutes first.
Can you charge the vape on the train?
At a socket by your seat you technically can, and any ordinary USB-C cable fits. Do not leave the device unattended while doing so and unplug the cable as soon as it is full. A full charge usually takes about an hour. It is better to charge before you travel. The rules for charging are in the Instructions.
Why should you look it up beforehand?
Because vapour does not go unnoticed. It is visible and smells of the flavor, even when it is mild. Fellow passengers and staff notice it. Smoke detectors can react to dense vapour. If you know the operator’s rules beforehand, you do not have to try anything out on the way. What people notice about vapour is explained in the article Can you smell a RandM vape in a room?
Which range suits long journeys?
Any of them. Even the Fumot Digital Box 12000 lasts about 40 days on paper at 300 puffs a day, so every range survives a journey. What matters more is the preparation: charge before you leave and look at the liquid level, so that neither battery nor liquid runs out unexpectedly on the way. You find every range under Disposable vapes and in the overview of the RandM Tornado models.
