At the beach three things harm a vape above all: sand in the mouthpiece and in the charging port, direct sun and water. Keep the device in a closed bag in the shade and only take it out to draw. Never leave it on the towel in the sun. If it has been fully in the water, stop using it. The data sheet lists no protection against water or dust.
What do sand, sun and water do?
Each hits a different spot. Sand clogs, sun heats it up, water endangers the electronics and the battery. The table shows the consequences and the protection. It applies to every range at RandM Vape Shop (randmvape.shop), because they all have an open mouthpiece, a USB-C port and a built-in lithium battery.
| What | What happens | Protection |
|---|---|---|
| Sand | settles in the mouthpiece and the charging port | a closed bag or a pouch that seals |
| Sun | heat is hard on the battery and the liquid | shade, never leave it lying on the towel |
| Water | moisture in the port and inside the device | keep it away from the water, dry hands |
| Salt | stays on the device once it has dried | wipe it off with a dry cloth |
How do you keep sand away from the device?
With a bag that closes. A pouch that seals is enough. Put the device back after every puff and not on the towel or in the sand. If sand does get on the mouthpiece, wipe it dry and carefully blow out the charging port. Do not poke anything into it. How to clean the mouthpiece is in the article Cleaning the mouthpiece.
Why is the sun at the beach so tricky?
Because a device in direct sun gets very warm quickly. Heat is hard on the battery and the liquid. Warm liquid is also thinner and can leak at the mouthpiece. Keep the device in the shade, under the umbrella or in the bag. If the housing is deformed or swollen afterwards, or if it stays hot even though it is in the shade, stop using it. More on that is in the Battery notice.
What if the device gets wet?
Then do not draw on it and do not charge it. Wipe off a few splashes and let the device air dry. If it has been fully in the water, it is no longer safe and belongs at a collection point. That applies to fresh water and to salt water alike. The steps are in the article Vape has got wet.
Are you even allowed to vape at the beach?
That is set by whoever is responsible for the beach. That can be the municipality or the operator of a beach resort. Watch for signs at the entrance and ask if you are unsure. Abroad the rules of the country apply. What to clear up before a trip is in the article Holiday with a vape.
What do you take for a day at the beach?
A charged device, a bag that closes and a dry cloth. Charge it before you set off. A charging cable has no business in the sand. Empty devices you take back with you and hand in at a collection point. You find every range under Disposable vapes and in the overview of the RandM Tornado models.
Frequently asked questions
Is a RandM Tornado protected against sand and water?
The data sheet lists no protection against water or dust. Treat the device carefully accordingly.
Can I put the vape in the cool bag?
Better not right next to ice packs or ice. It gets damp and cold there. Its own bag in the shade is the better place.
What do I do about sand in the charging port?
Blow it out carefully and do not poke anything into it. Only charge once the port is clean and dry.
Which flavors suit the beach?
In the warmth, chilled flavors feel more pleasant than purely fruity ones. You usually spot them by Ice or Mint in the name.
