There are four directions: fruity, sweet, exotic and icy. Fruity has the broadest appeal and is the safest pick for a first purchase. Sweet tastes like dessert and gets heavy faster. Exotic brings flavors you do not drink every day. Icy is not a direction of its own but a cooled version of the same fruit. Which one fits you comes down to what you like to drink.
What flavor directions are there?
Four, and they are easy to tell apart. Fruity stands for berry, melon, mango and peach. Sweet leans toward cola, energy drink, lemonade and jelly beans. Exotic means flavors like guava, dragon fruit or passion fruit. Icy lays a chill over one of those, much like mint in chewing gum. Many flavors fall into two directions at once, watermelon with ice for example.
| Direction | Typical of it | Fits you if |
|---|---|---|
| Fruity | Strawberry, watermelon, mango, peach | you do not want to commit |
| Sweet | Cola, energy drink, lemonade, jelly beans | you like dessert and soda |
| Exotic | Guava, dragon fruit, passion fruit | the usual is too dull for you |
| Icy | Fruit with a chill, mint, menthol | you like it fresh and clean |
What does the ice note do to the flavor?
It cools and makes the fruit cleaner. The same strawberry tastes fresher and less sweet with ice, because the chill pushes the sweetness into the background. That is why many flavors come in two versions, one plain and one with Ice in the name. If you like mint gum, the icy version almost always works for you.
The reverse holds too: if menthol is simply too cold for you, stay with the flavors without Ice. The difference is obvious, not subtle. All the cooled flavors are under icy vapes.
Which flavor do you pick on a first purchase?
A fruity one. It gets the least wrong, because it sits close to what most people already like to drink. Strawberry, watermelon and mango are the flavors that move most here, and they rarely get to be too much after two weeks. Heavy dessert flavors are the worse start, because they wear out their welcome faster.
If you want certainty on your first device, take a smaller model. A device with 12,000 or 15,000 puffs is done in a few weeks, so you can switch without a long commitment. How long each model lasts you is worked out in our article How many puffs does a vape really have.
What do you do when your flavor goes flat?
Switch the direction, not just the flavor. If strawberry does nothing for you anymore, raspberry rarely saves it, because both sit in the same corner. Go from fruity to icy or to exotic instead. The effect usually shows up immediately, because your palate has adjusted to what it knows.
Running two devices side by side helps as well. One fruity for the day, one icy for the evening, and neither goes stale. If you do not know where to start, use the Flavor Finder on the home page or look through All Flavors.
Who are 2in1 and 4in1 worth it for?
For anyone who does not want to commit. The Fumot Eco 2in1 50000 holds two flavors in one device, the Fumot Eco 4in1 80000 holds four. You switch on the device and get the same effect as carrying several devices, only in one hand and on one battery.
That solves the long runtime problem exactly. At 300 puffs a day, 80,000 puffs last around nine months, and almost nobody sticks with one flavor for nine months. With four flavors in the device, the long runtime turns into an advantage instead of a commitment.
FAQ
Can I tell the flavor by the smell?
Only roughly. The vapor smells much milder than the e-liquid tastes, and you barely smell the ice note at all. Go by the description and by what you like to drink. That is a better guide than the smell.
Do two devices with the same flavor taste the same?
Largely yes, as long as it is the same model. There are differences between models, because the coils and the power are not identical. The same flavor can come across a little stronger in a bigger model.
Why can I barely taste my flavor after a few days?
Because your palate gets used to it. That is normal and not a fault in the device. Switching to a different direction usually brings the taste right back, and often a single day away from the usual flavor is enough.
Are there flavors with no fruit and no mint?
Yes, you find those among the sweet flavors. Cola and energy drink work without a fruit note. They are stronger on the finish, so try them before you buy a device with a very high puff count.
Can I have two flavors in one device?
Yes. The Fumot Eco 2in1 50000 carries two flavors, the Fumot Eco 4in1 80000 four, each in separate chambers. You switch at the mouthpiece and nothing mixes. That way you try a new direction without committing a whole device to it.
