Battery Safety
Disposing of vapes properly and storing them safely
Why a vape must not go in household waste, where it goes instead, and how to store it safely until then.
- Returns are free, even without buying something new
- Recycling center or any point of sale
- Never open the device, never remove the battery
Required
Every RandM vape contains a built-in lithium battery and electronic parts. That brings it under the German Battery Act and the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act. Putting it in household waste is not permitted and can be treated as an administrative offense.
The reason is not only the environment. Lithium batteries can catch fire when they are crushed or damaged. That is exactly what happens in waste compactors and sorting plants on a regular basis.
Where it goes
Two ways, both free
Tape over the contacts on the underside first. That prevents a short circuit in transport. All the steps in detail are in the guide Disposing of a Disposable Vape the Right Way.
Municipal recycling centers take old electrical devices free of charge. Hand the device over to a member of staff instead of throwing it into a container yourself.
Every place that sells e-cigarettes takes used devices back. That has applied since July 2026 and is not tied to buying a new device.
